The first chapter of The Mind at work deals with Waitressing. The authors mother was a waitress for many years, and this chapter is a type of omage to waitresses. The chapter gives insights that waitressing is a multi-tasking job of interation w/ the cutomer(s), knowing the layout of the cafe, and having an understanding that service is of the highest order in order to get a good tip which pays the bills.
Beyond summary what more can you say? What information does Rose provide that draws you to the conclusions that serving is a multitasking job?
